Welcome to The Flying Pieman

Welcome to The Flying Pieman Australian meat pie shop in Onomichi City producing original and traditional Australian style handmade meat pies since June 2011. We are now happy to be able to offer our meat pies for sale through our online website to customers throughout Japan.

In Australia, the meat pie is probably the closest thing we have to a national dish, with hundreds of millions of them being consumed each year. They are easily the most recognisable of all of Australia's national foods and have been reinvented in recent years combining new flavours from other culture’s foods that have made their way into our country.

The Flying Pieman pies are made by hand from the pastry up. Our puff pastry in particular is folded several times and rested in between for an hour to achieve its crunchy texture and takes a full day to prepare. Our fillings consist of traditional Australian flavours as well as popular flavours from other countries and are slightly runny to compliment the crunchy texture of the pastry that surrounds it.

We hope that you will enjoy eating our current flavours and any new flavours we introduce in the future.

Original Handmade Souvenirs from Onomichi

Before becoming a piemaker, I was a photographer for many years. Over my time in Onomichi, I have taken lots of wonderful photos of all the main places and events in the city all year round.

Many of these photos are now available as postcards in our pie shop. There are over 200 different postcards and original bookmarks to choose from, all of them  designed, produced and printed by myself. Postcards and bookmarks can be purchased at ¥150 each or buy five or more and you can get them for ¥135 each.
